Background
Most of my internship will be focused on IBJ's efforts in Africa. IBJ wants me to do this because I've previously lived and worked in Africa. I spent my early childhood in Sierra Leone and volunteered for 2 years (2004-2006) as missionary and humanitarian aid volunteer in Zimbabwe and Zambia. I speak Shona, Ndebele, Benba, and Krio, so I'll be trying to translate a lot of their materials and working on developing their website. My responsibilities will include:
- Legal research for country programs, international standards, and other areas of interest to attorneys around the world
- Development of legal training courses using Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Presenter
- Working with country fellows and JusticeMakers to produce high-level country-specific content
- Testing, proofing, and auditing eLearning courses
- Management of courses and students at IBJ’s Legal Training Resource Center
- Responding to student requests and issues with the Moodle Learning Management System
- Promoting Legal Training Resource Center through social media, twitter, and other avenues of electronic communication.
- Manage Google Adwords and/or Legal Training Resource Center newsletter
- Identify and secure experts for IBJ Expert Panel
- Translation of existing resources and eLearning courses
- Working with regional or country-level bar associations to establish accreditation programs
