Michael is a central Ohio native and alumnus of The Ohio State University, where he double-majored in English and Russian Language. He traveled to western Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg) twice during his undergraduate years. He looks forward to his internship in Bishkek, where he will be able to expand upon my knowledge of Russian and learn more about the cultures of former Soviet states in central Asia. This international internship will provide a chance to develop professionally and to better understand what a career in international law may entail. Further, he hopes this internship will offer an opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of Kyrgyz citizens.
This summer Michael will be an intern at USAID’s Collaborative Governance Program/East West Management Institute in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Their main objective within the Rule of Law component is to promote access to legal aid and to provide citizens resources to more easily seek such aid, whether it be free or by fee. Further, they aim to provide access to court decisions, so that citizens are aware of legal changes affecting their lives.
