Many local events are scheduled to celebrate the Fourth of July. If your schedule permits time in the Williamsburg area - please plan to participate in the festivities!

  • "A Salute to the States" with Fifes & Drums performance and cannon fire will occur at 10:00 AM in Market Square in Colonial Williamsburg.
  • The Declaration of independence will be read at the Capitol at 12:30 PM.
  • An All- American 4th of July picnic on the grounds of the Governor's Palace will include performances by musicians, storytellers and balladeers and plenty of children's games.
  • Music for the Fireworks at 8:15 features a concert of patriotic music prior to the fireworks - scheduled to begin in Colonial Williamsburg at 9:15.
  • The Yorktown 8K Run, 5K Walk begins at 8:00 AM at the Battlefield Tour Road.
  • A new exhibit opens July 3 at Colonial Williamsburg DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum that celebrates the birthday of the Declaration of Independence.
  • The 27th annual "Ice Cream Social" has become a tradition for locals and visitors and is sponsored by Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. Money raised from the social helps support the auxiliary's community programs, including free mammogram, bone density and health screenings for the uninsured, scholarship programs, pediatric gift bags in emergency, chemo cap program and holiday tray favors for patients. 
  • "Boom n' July" fireworks set to music are scheduled July 1 - 4 at Busch Gardens Amusement Park.
