Alumni and Development Programs
Serve as a Chapter Liaison. Liaisons serve as contacts for an alumni chapter within a region or city. This small group of alumni helps plan and organize alumni activities in their areas, and are supported by an Alumni Affairs staff member.
Participate in the Co-Counsel Mentoring Program. Interested in sharing the wisdom you've gained with a fledgling law student? If you are, please complete a registration form by clicking here Sr. Co-Counsel Form. This short questionnaire lets us know where you live and a little about your career path. The program runs from a student’s 1L spring through their 2L fall. Although Senior Counsel Registration takes place in the fall each year, matches occur in January when the program officially launches. Many times students choose Senior Counsels based on the area of the country they're from, their career goals, or because they share a common experience (for example, military service or previous employment similarities). We welcome alumni working in any field and any location to submit a form as the more diverse our pool of Senior Counsels, the more likely our students will find an impactful match. The Co-Counsel relationship consists of phone calls, emails and in-person meetings when able, so we encourage alumni from around the world to participate. Supervise an extern. Students earn academic credit by externing in a legal or law-related setting under the guidance of a field supervisor – a licensed attorney, judge, legislator, certified mediator, or an individual otherwise qualified to supervise (the field supervisor). Help Organize a Class Reunion or Class Gift. Each spring at Law Alumni Weekend, the Law School sponsors a reunion for classes celebrating their 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, and 50 year reunions. A small group of volunteers from each reunion class is needed to help plan the class party and organize the class gift. Volunteers will be asked to take on a leadership role in encouraging attendance at reunion and enlisting their classmates to support the class gift. (Planning for reunions begins in August and continues until Law Alumni Weekend in April.)
Give to the Law School. Alumni are encouraged to make an annual financial contribution to the Law School. The Annual Fund supports Marshall-Wythe's most pressing needs. Each year, we urge alumni to "cast a vote" in favor of William & Mary Law School through a gift to the Annual Fund. Your "vote" is important! Give A Gift
Serve on the Law School Boards. Members of the Law School's Foundation and Association Boards volunteer their time and resources to further the Law School's goals and programs. New members are nominated to serve on the boards. The Boards approve nominations and a slate of officers for election at their annual meetings in the spring.
Become an Alumni Ambassador. The Office of Admission’s Alumni Ambassador program allows you to connect with William & Mary Law School and our prospective and admitted students. The time commitment varies from a few minutes to a few hours and all can be scheduled at your convenience. You can be a resource to admitted students or staff a table at a recruiting event. Whatever the option that you select, the Admission Office will provide you with the necessary support.
Our alumni ambassadors are an important and unique factor for our admitted students as they select their law school. They are, and you can be, significant resources, and many provide networking opportunities for our admitted students as these students begin their legal career.

The 1L Mock Interview Program provides first-year students with the opportunity to gain experience in interviewing for jobs. During the program, alumni conduct simulated interviews which allow students to experience the interview process in a supportive setting. Alumni critique students, providing them with valuable feedback on improving their skills.
