Law School Welcomes New Students
Earlier this month, the school welcomed the J.D. Class of 2017, the LL.M. Class of 2015, and transfer and visiting students. The 1Ls  have a median LSAT of 163 and a median G.P.A. of 3.79 (the highest of any entering class in our history). Read more.

Alumni & Friends Give Record-Breaking Gifts in FY 2014

Giving to the Law School came to more than $4.5 million in FY 2014--the largest amount in our history and a 26% increase over FY 2013's record $3.5 million. Read more.
Law Faculty & Students Take Up the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
Students got to douse Dean Douglas and Professors Barnard, Dwyer, Griffin, Kades, Larsen, Malone, McSweeney, Meese, and Roberts as faculty and students joined in the Ice Bucket Challenge. More than $1,000 was raised for ALS Research. Enjoy the video!

W&M Announces New Gifts in Support of  Zable Stadium
A $6 million gift from James W. '62, J.D. '64, LL.D. '00 and Frances G. McGlothlin '66 are among the private funds received that will enable the university to move forward with the project to enhance the 79-year-old football facility. Our McGlothlin Courtroom  is named in memory of Mr. McGlothlin's grandparents,  B. F. McGlothlin, Sr., and Annie L. McGlothlin.  Read more.

New Clinic Directors Named

Roy A. Hoagland leads the Virginia Coastal Policy Clinic. He has worked on environmental issues, particularly concerning the Chesapeake Bay watershed, for more than 25 years. Read more.

Crystal Shin, a former advocate for children in Charlottesville, Va., directs the PELE Special Education Advocacy Clinic. Before earning her J.D. at U.Va., she was an elementary school teacher in North Carolina through Teach for America. Read more.
Study in London: Drapers' Scholarship
Third-year W&M law students and W&M law alumni who graduated within the last two years are eligible for a scholarship that supports a year of study at Queen Mary College. Application deadline: October 15. Learn more.

SCOTUS Cites Professor Gershowitz

The U.S. Supreme Court cited Professor Adam Gershowitz in a ruling rejecting warrantless cellphone searches. Read more.



11th Annual Brigham-Kanner Property Rights Conference,  Oct. 30-31 

During the annual gathering, the W&M Property Rights Project will honor Michael M. Berger of Manatt, Phelps, and Phillips with the 2014 Brigham-Kanner Property Rights Prize. CLE credit will be available. For more information visit law.wm.edu/propertyrights/.

W&M Takes Home Attorney General's Cup in VBA's "Food Frenzy" Competition    

For the first time in the competition's history, W&M Law School took home the Attorney General's Cup after our students collected 4,961 pounds of food for those in need during the eighth annual Legal Food Frenzy. Read more.

Zime Opens   

The Student Lounge was renovated this summer and is open for business under its new name, "Zime." Students are discovering a much more open space with a wider offering of food choices. Read more.
