2009 Summer Public Service Fellowships
For summer 2009, William & Mary School of Law awarded $282,231 to 104 students (64 1Ls, 40 2Ls) for 105 public service fellowships. They worked for 67 organizations in 17 states, the District of Columbia, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, India, Russia, Spain, and Switzerland. Students will assist private nonprofit organizations focusing on civil liberties, death penalty, domestic violence, the environment, family rights, First Amendment, health care, human rights, immigration, mental health, post-conflict justice, rule of law, tax, war crimes, and women's rights (16); civil legal aid/legal services organizations (10); state/local public defenders (17); federal public defenders (3); state/local prosecutors (16); U.S. Attorneys (14); state/local government agencies (17); federal government agencies (8); and state/local/federal judiciary (4).
