This website from Cornell's Legal Information Institute briefly describes some of the areas of law and organizations lawyers may deal with in the field of professional and amateur sports.

National Sports Law Institute (Marquette University Law School)

Institute intended to be a national leader "for the study of legal, ethical and business issues affecting amateur and professional sports from an academic and practical perspective". Website includes links to Institute publications and to other websites the Institute finds useful for researching sports law.

Penn State Institute for Sports Law, Policy, and Research (Penn State School of Law)
An institute intended to help journalists and scholars to research sports law and discuss it with the public. Includes links to relevant laws and legislative histories, sports law research, and lists of recommended academic reading on topics related to sports law.


ABA Forum on Entertainment and Sports Industries
An American Bar Association committee intended to educate its members on the various aspects of being a lawyer in the entertainment or sports industry. It sponsors educational symposiums and an annual meeting. Publishes The Entertainment and Sports Lawyer (available on Hein Online)

Sports Lawyers Association (SLA)
An organization whose members discuss issues regarding sports law, advocate ethical rules in the field, and distribue  information on sports law. Publishes The Sports Lawyer, Sports Lawyers Journal, and Sports Law Weekly (access to these publications is members-only on the SLA site; Sports Lawyers Journal is available on Hein Online).

The Sport and Recreation Law Association (SRLA)
The SLRA is an association created to help disseminate information on sports and recreation law. Holds annual conference and publishes The Journal of Legal Aspects of Sport (available on Hein Online).
