Cornhole Tournament and Chili Cookoff
Ninety students competed in the Cornhole Tournament and six students entered their culinary masterpieces in the Chili Cookoff this fall!
Mid-October. Sunshine. 76 degrees. A ceremonial first pitch by Professor Griffin. A perfect day for softball, but the stakes were high as only one team could leave with a ticket to the UVA softball tournament in the spring. In the end, Team TJP won the championship for the second year in a row!
Halloween festivities do not have to end when trick-or-treating does! Over three hundred students attended the Public Service Fund’s Halloween Party at the law school this fall. If you want a chance at winning the costume contest next year, start planning now! This is not a challenge students take lightly.
On November 14, more than twenty law students took the opportunity to showcase their talents at PSF’s Singer Songwriter event. Audience members sipped on warm apple cider and snacked on homemade desserts while the performers put on a three hour show!
With the Auction’s Kentucky Derby theme this year, big hats, bow ties, and a fast-paced atmosphere predominated. Nine student bands performed, with a lively rendition of “Uptown Funk” rejuvenating the 330-person crowd after a long night of bidding, and PSF raised over $20,000 for summer stipends. Donations for this event came not only from local and national businesses, but from alumni, students, and faculty as well. Over 30 faculty members donated Faculty Experiences, which ranged from sport clay shooting with Professors Alces and Stern, to a Middle Eastern dinner with Professors Combs, Kades, and Criddle, to lunch with Dean Douglas. Some of the student offers included sailing lessons, a private aerial tour, a Hogwarts dinner party, and Indian cooking classes.
Student-Faculty Basketball Game
This year's Student-Faculty Basketball Game was a great mix of entertainment and competition. In a nerve-racking finish, the students came out on top by just one point!
