Dean Smith joined William & Mary Law School in July 2019 to lead the law admissions team.  As the chief admissions officer at the Law School he is responsible for recruiting and enrolling a talented, energetic, and diverse J.D. class. Additionally, he is responsible for directing all admissions and recruiting activities at the Law School, including pipeline programs and applicant counseling; providing strategic direction and vision for the Law School’s admissions and recruiting operations, including the use of historical admissions data and other information to identify trends in and to optimize recruitment; managing the employees and resources of the Admissions Office; and working collaboratively with the Financial Aid Office to manage the Law School’s scholarship resources.

Representative Professional Activities and Achievements
Dean Smith was most recently the Assistant Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid at Campbell University School of Law in Raleigh, N.C. Prior to that role, he served as the Director of Admissions at Florida Coastal School of Law, the Assistant Director of Career Services at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, and as the Director of Compliance and Legislative Services with the National Association of Interscholastic Athletics (NAIA).

Committed to fostering and maintaining institutional reputation through service on school, university, national committees and boards, Dean Smith current serves on the Board of Directors of the Southern Association of Pre-Law Advisors (SAPLA). He has served on numerous committees, sub-committees, and panels of the Law School Admission Council (LSAC).
