WATCH THE 2016 PREVIEW:
The 2016 Preview featured 17 Supreme Court advocates who have collectively argued more than 400 cases before the US Supreme Court. The Preview began at 5 pm on Friday, September 23 with a moot court on one of the most controversial cases of the 2016 term, Pena-Rodriquez v. Colorado. The issue presented in this case is whether racial bias in jury deliberations violates the right to a fair and impartial trial. The moot court advocates were Christopher Landau (Kirkland & Ellis) and David A. Strauss (University of Chicago Law School).
The Preview continued on Saturday, September 24 with panels throughout the day. Panels discussed other cases for the upcoming term, including immigration, the president's appointments power, the death penalty, church-state aid, race and congressional districting, and insider trading. Preview panels also considered the Supreme Court and the 2016 elections and the ramifications of an 8 member Supreme Court.
