Intern for International Bridges to Justice in Geneva, Switzerland
Background
I am a legal intern for International Bridges to Justice in Geneva, Switzerland. The main goals of the organization are to ensure basic human rights for all citizens and protecting the basic legal rights for citizens in developing countries, mainly through providing competent legal representation, ensuring the right to be protected from cruel and unusual punishment, and the right to a fair trial. IBJ works in Africa,
Vietnam, China, and India, with the headquarters in Geneva. IBJ has recently started a Juvenile Justice Project study in China, focusing on the effects of the criminal justice system on children. Because of my work at a preschool and orphanage for children with HIV in Cape Town South Africa, I am hoping to propose a Juvenile Justice Project study for IBJ's African countries.
