Bonjour from Switzerland!
Hi from Switzerland!
After a relatively uneventful journey here (minimal turbulence and relatively minimal amounts of crying babies), I have settled into my studio apartment in Versoix, a lakeside town about 9 miles outside of Geneva. After unpacking, I went down the main road to the grocery store. I immediately felt extreme gratitude for having taken French in high school and college- absolutely nothing was in English, so it took me a bit to meander through the grocery and decipher what exactly I was buying (for those of you that know me and my love for grocery stores, the afternoon wasn't exactly painful!). I hope to get the rust off of my speaking skills, as it seems that the town is mostly French speaking, with only bits and pieces of English being thrown at me.
Day 1 at work is on Wednesday- I'm looking forward to starting a new adventure!
