International Bridges to Justice (Geneva)

Background

Most of my internship will be focused on IBJ's efforts in Africa. IBJ wants me to do this because I've previously lived and worked in Africa. I spent my early childhood in Sierra Leone and volunteered for 2 years (2004-2006) as missionary and humanitarian aid volunteer in Zimbabwe and Zambia. I speak Shona, Ndebele, Benba, and Krio, so I'll be trying to translate a lot of their materials and working on developing their website. My responsibilities will include:

  • Legal research for country programs, international standards, and other areas of interest to attorneys around the world
  • Development of legal training courses using Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Presenter
  • Working with country fellows and JusticeMakers to produce high-level country-specific content
  • Testing, proofing, and auditing eLearning courses
  • Management of courses and students at IBJ’s Legal Training Resource Center
  • Responding to student requests and issues with the Moodle Learning Management System
  • Promoting Legal Training Resource Center through social media, twitter, and other avenues of electronic communication.
  • Manage Google Adwords and/or Legal Training Resource Center newsletter
  • Identify and secure experts for IBJ Expert Panel
  • Translation of existing resources and eLearning courses
  • Working with regional or country-level bar associations to establish accreditation programs
