United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (Arusha, Tanzania)
Background
The International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda was established for the prosecution of persons responsible for genocide and other serious violations of international humanitarian law committed in the territory of Rwanda. I have been assigned to work with the Trial Chambers Support Section at the ICTR where I primarily will be assigned to a specific Trial Chamber and be responsible for assisting the Judges, the Associate Legal Officers and the Trial Chamber Coordinator of that Chamber. As an intern in the chambers I will perform legal research and prepare legal memos, assist with the drafting of legal documents, attend court proceedings and participate in deliberations.
