My Last Week
I can't believe it was my last day. Time seemed to go by so fast. I absolutely loved working for IDEA and really enjoyed the work that I was doing and the people I worked with. My time here was so valuable. I got to work on some great projects and to learn so much. The people were great with advice and information that I think will be extremely useful as I continue in my career. I hope the next student who works here has as amazing an experience as I did.
We went to lunch Thursday as a goodbye thing since the head of the office would be out today. It was fun, and I felt very appreciated. They gave me a Dutch cook book! I love cooking, and I think I've mentioned that I find food to be a great way to explore other cultures. The book has a menu from each of the 12 provinces of the Netherlands. I can't wait to try them when I get home.
I gave myself an extra week and a half before heading back to the States. This weekend I'm going to Brugge and Ghent in Belgium with another WM student who is here this summer. I have decided that rather than do a big European tour, that I shall explore the Netherlands more. I have the book I got from the Stratings and one of my coworkers let me borrow her Netherlands guidebook. Usually when Americans visit Europe, they hit the major cities (which I did a few years ago), and if they do a particular country, they'll choose France or Italy. I think the Netherlands gets kind of overlooked, and in my time here I've really come to love the country. I'm excited to see more of it. Also, I think the longest distance I will have to travel will be a 3 hour train trip, which means I don't have to worry about the hassel of hostels and flights. I should be adding more pictures to my Facebook album if you're interested!
Enjoy the rest of your summer!
