Where there's life, there's hope
Summer is sadly ending, and, like all good things, my internship has come to an end. This summer has flown by. My coworkers can’t believe that it is time for me to leave. Truthfully, I can’t believe it is time for me to leave, either.
At the beginning of the summer, it seemed like the end would never come. Now that it is here, I am looking forward to going home, but I know that nothing will compare to my summer spent in Rome.
I have learned so much from my time at IDLO. Before I came, I struggled to pronounce the names of the countries I would be working with (Kyryzstan, Tajikistan), and now I am almost fluent in our work for them in reforming their judicial systems. I've made countless Skype calls to our field offices, processed and facilitated numerous contracts, and had a seemingly infinite amount of espresso. This was truly a once in a lifetime experience, and I am eternally grateful to Professor Warren and Professor Koch who facilitated this internship for me.
I have already been able to share my experience with my fellow law students, and I look forward to sharing my experience with potential students as a Student Ambassador. I am so proud to attend a school that offers opportunities like this - I know that is one of the reasons that I chose to attend William & Mary, and I know many visiting students will feel the same way.
All in all, this was a truly wonderful summer, and interning at IDLO helped me grow in so many ways professionally and personally. With that, I will leave you with my favorite Italian proverb. Finché c'è vita c'è speranza. (Where there's life, there's hope.)
