The Big Apple
I have visited New York City many times as a child and was mesmerized by the tall skyscrapers, bustling streets and glistening lights of Times Square, but never have I imagined that I would be spending a summer living in the Big Apple working for an amazing and influential organization and gaining invaluable knowledge, insight and experience in my field of study. Moving to NYC to begin work for the International Center for Transitional Justice (ICTJ), I realized that dreams really do come true!
I would like to thank Dr. Christie Warren and the generous donors of the Comparative Legal Studies and Post-Conflict Peacebuilding Program for this opportunity. This internship would not have been possible without the Professor Warren, whose distinguished career, diligence, wisdom and passion serve as an inspiration to all who have the privilege of working with her, but especially for those who wish to follow in her footsteps as a trailblazer in international law.
Public service has been a passion of mine from the time I was a little child. Instilled in me by my wonderful parents, it has grown throughout my lifetime as I have had the amazing and unique opportunities to create my own non-profit, volunteer in Costa Rica and Honduras and work for various non-profits and NGOs. My passion for public service has blossomed in law school as I have become involved in numerous organizations focused on public service, taught by passionate, inspirational and knowledgeable professors and surround by peers who share the same passions as I do.
William and Mary Law has helped focused my passion for public service and gave me a direction for my life and career and I am extremely grateful for the opportunities, experiences and relationships I have gained while being there. I have had an amazing journey thus far and excited to see what this summer in NYC has in store!
