Parisa Tabassian

About

Parisa is from Richmond, Virginia and went to Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service for her undergraduate degree in Culture and Politics. After college and before attending law school, she worked for 2 years as a paralegal at the DC office of an international, corporate, immigration law firm. She is interested in pursuing a legal career in the public interest sector as well as mediation. She is a member of William & Mary Law School's Alternative Dispute Resolution Competition Team, Public Service Fund, De Vecino a Vecino, Mediation Society, and American Constitution Society. She speaks and writes French and Farsi. She loves her dog Larry, traveling, movies, and chocolate.

Parisa will be working this summer at the United States Institute of Peace in Washington D.C. The USIP is an independent, nonpartisan institution established and funded by Congress to increase the nation's capacity to manage international conflict without violence. USIP's strategic goals include: to help prevent, manage, and resolve violent international conflict both within and between states; to promote post-conflict stability and development; to increase peacebuilding capacity, tools, and intellectual capital worldwide; to build and shape the field of international conflict prevention and management and to professionalize its practice; to build knowledge and create innovative tools for peace building; to bridge research and practice in preventing, managing and resolving violent conflicts; and to teach, train, and inform policymakers, practitioners, students and the public about the challenges of conflict prevention, management and resolution and how to respond to those challenges.
