Our First Week in the Office
I arrived in Kampala, Uganda, last Saturday and was able to rest and settle in before my first day of work on Monday at SAFE Uganda. Our office is located in the Nakasero neighborhood of the city, with many NGO's and businesses nearby. The view from our office is lovely, with homes on a hill in the background.
Our colleagues are wonderful. They are all very busy with work, but they are friendly and do not seem to mind when I ask a lot of questions. It seems as though everyone in our office has many years of experience in peacebuilding, conflict mitigation, and more. There are two components to SAFE Uganda's work: Component 1 works towards "Access to Justice", and Component 2 focuses on "Peace and Reconciliation". From just a few days of work, I can already tell that I will learn a lot this summer from both this amazing team and the work itself.
