Ellen Hubbard

Ellen Hubbard is from Richmond, Virginia, and graduated from the University of Virginia in 2014 with a double major in Foreign Affairs and Middle Eastern Studies. Following graduation from U.Va. she received a Critical Language Scholarship from the U.S. Department of State to study Persian (Farsi/Tajik) in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. Upon return to the U.S., she spent about five months working as a research assistant at interfaith dialogue-focused D.C. think tank the Rumi Forum. She then worked for about a year and a half as a medical malpractice defense litigation paralegal in Northern Virginia for the law firm of Rawls McNelis + Mitchell.

Ellen will be working this summer at the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance’s (IDEA) Constitution Building program in The Hague, Netherlands. She will help research and draft proposals and briefs, and attend conferences regarding drafting and amending constitutions to improve access to democracy and the rule of law. Ellen will work on a number of projects, including examinations of the impact of religion in constitution drafting and drafting constitutions to improve governmental representation for the disadvantaged.
