Layla Abi-Falah

About
Layla is from Richmond, Virginia. She graduated from the College of William & Mary with a B.A. in International Relations with a concentration in human rights in the Middle East and Africa. She is committed to a future in human rights and even as a student tries to bring about some sort of change. Layla had the opportunity as an undergraduate student to conduct policy relevant research alongside peers and professors and continues such research on development in Africa now as a project manager for the Center for African Development.        
As a member of the USAID Jordan CITIES Program, Layla will be working in two settings. First, she will work alongside the Advisory Unit for Decentralization to improve efforts to integrate municipalities into the governance framework, helping to increase democratic accountability, and improve conditions in Jordanian communities. Second, she will also be a member of the Community Cohesion project, encouraging community bonds through efforts to combat threats to cohesion and foster better community understanding of the decentralization process.
