About
Dorothy Canevari is originally from Stratford, Connecticut. She graduated from the University of Rochester, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Anthropology. Dorothy also holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Bassoon Performance from the Eastman School of Music. After college, she moved to The Netherlands where she pursued a Master of Science in International Crimes & Criminology at Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam. Her master's thesis focuses on the way that international law can combat cultural heritage destruction.
Dorothy is now a J.D. candidate at William & Mary Law School. She acts as the President for the Art & Cultural Heritage Law Society and is a board member for the Public Service Fund. This summer, Dorothy will be working in the Supreme Court Chamgers of the United Nation's Assistance to the Khmer Rouge Tribunal. The tribunal prosecutes senior leaders of the Democratic Kampuchea for the crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity, and grave breaches of the Geneva Conventions. Dorothy hopes to use her law degree for victim assistance, to advocate for fair criminal trial rights, and to help end impunity for our world's leaders.
