Week 8 at the ACC
This week has been absolutely incredible as I spent Tuesday and Wednesday at the Climate Crossroads Summit hosted by the National Academy in DC. The Climate Crossroads Summit was an intensive, informative two-day event in which a variety of experts weighed in on topics related to climate change and international policy. An unexpected highlight of the summit was reconnecting with a friend-of-a-friend that I had met briefly during my study abroad program in London. While I was studying abroad in London, my friend Brynne was participating in a climate change focused study abroad program in Iceland. At the end of her program, she brought another girl from her class named Natalie to London and we spent a weekend together. Well, during the lunch break on day one of the summit we sat at the same lunch table and reconnected while also networking with the other attendees eating lunch with us. This was one of those crazy coincidental moments, but it just made me so happy to see that both Natalie and I were still on track to pursue careers in the realm of climate change and environmental justice. Day 2 of the summit consisted of more panels but also breakout sessions. Attendees were given the choice between four different breakout sessions to attend. I opted for the one on “Building Resilient Cities” and enjoyed being able to participate in a discussion among experts in the field.
