Week Seven: The DC Trip (Officially)

This week was the official week of the DC trip. After quickly putting everything together and meeting on Monday, everyone left for an (almost) week-long event in DC, the same one I mentioned last week. While everyone was off working busily in DC, I stayed at ROLC's office along with a few others that did not leave.

Even though the office is usually quiet and I rarely see anyone outside the conference room I usually work in, the office felt incredibly empty. It got me back to thinking about how international lawyers, even mainly domestic ones, spend a lot of time on planes, traveling back and forth from places wherever they are needed. As I mentioned in one of my earlier entries, I figure this may change over time with the advent of virtual meetings (thank you COVID-19), but at the same time I don't know for sure. It is an interesting thing to think about, especially as a consequence of working internationally.

Back to the office. It was pretty quiet there. After working on an older assignment for one of my coworkers, I was given another assignment where I would draft forms, emails, and other documents for international use. While I, again, cannot go into any details, it has been a very eye opening and informative experience for sure.

All of these experiences have been informative, of course, but I feel like only now I realize how diverse my work has been here. It isn't just research I am doing, it is a little bit of everything, with extra items added onto it. I really feel like I am learning a lot while getting to contribute to something great. I know it will be around a month before I leave, but to be honest I don't want to go just yet.
