Week Nine
Monday through Wednesday of this week was a nonstop, collaborative effort to complete a proposal for our "Judicial Independence in Mongolia" project. I began work on the Mongolia proposal back in June, and then the office took a step back from this project while the manager in charge was out for two weeks. Upon her arrival back to NCSC, at least six people in the office (myself included) spent three full workdays ensuring that it was ready to go. After turning the proposal in, I felt a great sense of joy in being involved in such a large-scale effort. Only time will tell whether or not we get the proposal, and I am curious to see what the outcome is for us.
On Tuesday, staff at the office had arranged a happy hour for the interns at a gastro pub in Arlington. The turn out for the happy hour was great and I really enjoyed having the opportunity to get to know some people in the office that I hadn't had a chance to really socialize with yet.
Over the weekend, I met up with some friends in Alexandria to eat by the water in Old Towne. After a month of heat advisories, I was pleasantly surprised to have a weekend with weather below 90. On Saturday, I attended my first professional soccer game: United DC against Celtic FC. Soccer is one of the few sports I can actually follow, and I had a great time at the game! Celtic FC won 4-0!
