Back to School?

This week at work, I found myself knee-deep in a niche and complicated research question regarding the term "reasonably anticipated." This was particularly tough because there's a vast amount of law to sort through, making it a challenging but rewarding task. Diving into these legal intricacies is exhausting and exhilarating, and I’m learning a lot about how regulatory terms are interpreted and applied.

In addition to my research, I've had several networking calls to help with my job search for next summer. It's stressful to apply for jobs a year ahead of time, but I prefer to do it now rather than during the semester when my workload will be even heavier. These conversations have been insightful and helped me build valuable connections in the regulatory law field.

Speaking of school, I am preparing to move back to Williamsburg in a few weeks. It’s crazy to think that 2L year will start in about a month. It feels like my summer internship has just started, and I’m glad that I still have four more weeks at ACC to tackle and wrap up my larger projects. One of the benefits of living in DC this summer is that it’s relatively easy to get back to Williamsburg, which is between a 2.5 to 3-hour drive from here. It’s beneficial that I am close enough to handle my move in stages, and in fact, I’m driving down later today to start moving into my new apartment.

This week has been busy with social events too. On Thursday, I went to happy hour at Rocket Bar with a dear friend of mine from undergrad. That happy hour was regrettably cut short because I had to run to the first kickball game of the summer season with my kickball team, Scared Kickless. We played on the National Mall and lost in the last inning by 1 run. However, that didn’t dampen our spirits, and we had a little picnic on the Mall afterward. It was awesome to be picnicking on the Mall with a sunset behind the Washington Monument as a surreal backdrop.

Friday was particularly special as I celebrated my birthday with a happy hour. It was great to see so many worlds colliding as I celebrated with undergraduate friends, work friends, kickball friends, DC Jewish community friends, and law school friends, all in the same place simultaneously. The camaraderie and joy of having everyone together made for a memorable evening.

Next week should be fun and busy because my high school best friend will be visiting. We'll be moving some of my items in Williamsburg, supporting a friend at karaoke, grabbing dinner with friends, and attending next week’s kickball game. It’s going to be a packed week, but I’m looking forward to every moment.

Stay tuned for more updates as my summer journey continues!
