Settling In

Living in the DC area for the last 2 weeks  has been an incredible experience. At my internship with the ACC,  I'm currently working on some pretty complex and niche legal research projects, focusing on EPA and OSHA regulations. Diving into the world of regulatory law has been fascinating, and I'm really enjoying the process of learning and navigating these intricate legal landscapes. Each project presents unique challenges and opportunities to delve deeper into the intricacies of the law, which keeps my work both engaging and rewarding.

One of the best parts about being in DC is the chance to attend law firm recruitment events. Last week, I went to two of them, and they were not only fun but also great for networking. Meeting professionals in the field and expanding my network has been invaluable. These events have given me a lot of insight and connections that I'm excited to build on. The conversations I’ve had and the people I’ve met have provided me with a clearer picture of the legal landscape in the DC area and how I'm going to shape my job applications this summer and into the fall.

Over Memorial Day weekend, I took a short trip to Mexico, which was a fantastic break. However, it meant I didn't get to explore my neighborhood in Fairfax as much as I wanted. To make up for it, I spent this weekend walking the local trails. The Fairfax trails are beautiful, and I even saw several deer and a lovely stream. It was a perfect way to relax and get to know the area better. The tranquility of the trails provided a great balance to the hustle and bustle of my work life.

I also made a point to visit Roots Natural Kitchen, a restaurant I loved during my undergrad years. It was just as good as I remembered: my El Jefe salad bowl was outstanding. I really cannot recommend this restaurant enough, and they have several locations in the mid atlantic.

Looking ahead, I'm excited for the upcoming week. There are more recruitment events on my calendar, and I have some interesting meetings lined up for my internship. Each day in DC brings new opportunities, and I'm eager to see what the rest of the summer holds.
