Remote Work and Celebrations

This week was a refreshing change of pace as the entire week was remote, eliminating the need for my daily commute to the office. Not seeing my teammates in person felt strange, but the extra sleep was a welcome trade-off. I took advantage of the quieter days to catch up on projects that had been lingering on my to-do list.

One of the highlights of my week was working from the MLK Jr. Library in downtown DC on Tuesday. The library is enormous and beautiful, offering a perfect workspace. Looking out the window, I could see the bustling city below, which added a nice touch to my day. Since I was already downtown, I met up with a college friend for a beer afterward, making the most of being in the area.

We were granted an early release on Wednesday in recognition of the 4th of July holiday. I seized the opportunity to catch a Nats game with my old kickball team, Scared Kickless. It was fantastic to reconnect with them before the new season starts next week.

Thursday was the 4th of July, so I had the day off to celebrate. I attended a friend’s cookout, where we enjoyed traditional burgers and hot dogs. We played cards, and I even learned how to play spades. Later, we walked to the National Mall to watch the fireworks show. Despite having lived in DC for years, this was my first time seeing the National Mall fireworks. It was an incredible experience and a lot of fun.

Friday was a work-from-home day, but feeling a bit tired from the festivities, I took it easy.

Saturday was more eventful as I attended a friend’s graduation party, celebrating their accomplishments with great company and good food.

Looking ahead, next week promises more excitement. I’ll be supporting a friend in a competitive karaoke league and playing my first kickball game of the season with Scared Kickless. Stay tuned for more updates as these new adventures unfold!
