Still Rolling

This week in DC has been a blend of challenging research projects, social gatherings, and athletic adventures.

Work continues to be interesting as I dove headfirst into some challenging research projects. One of the more complex tasks required me to examine the legal doctrine of foreseeability through a strictly regulatory lens. This was a unique challenge because foreseeability is traditionally rooted in common law, but I had to navigate both modern statutory and case law research to get the answers I needed. The complexity of this project really pushed me to think critically and broaden my understanding of regulatory law.

I also attended a virtual coffee chat focused on the Clean Air Act. It was an intimate session with only a handful of attendees, which made it even more engaging. Delving into this niche topic provided valuable insights and allowed for a deeper discussion on environmental regulations.

This week was also very social, filled with reconnecting with old friends and making new memories. I kicked off the week by grabbing a beer with an old coworker, wherein we filled each other in on the latest old-office gossip. Later, I had dinner with my old roommate and our friends from the DC Jewish community. We went to Inca Social in Arlington, and I highly recommend trying their Peruvian cheeseburger—it was delicious.

The socializing didn’t stop there. I also got drinks with some college buddies and wrapped up the week by having s’mores and cocktails with a close friend. These gatherings were a perfect way to balance the intense workdays and enjoy the vibrant social life in DC.

In addition to my busy work and social schedule, I went on two bike rides that were both invigorating and scenic. On the first ride, I covered 8 miles and kept seeing signs that said "yield to horses." I thought it was odd until I actually saw a cowboy riding his horse down the trail. I made sure to yield, per the signs' instructions, and later saw him grazing his horse.

My second ride was a longer and sweatier 10-mile trek from Fairfax to Annandale and back. Despite the effort, the ride was along a beautiful stream, making it a rewarding and picturesque journey.

Next week promises to be just as exciting. I’m looking forward to attending two law firm receptions, which should be great opportunities to continue networking. Plus, I’m planning to play some pickleball next weekend!
