Week 7 - Gratitude
This week was a shorter week for me as well because I was given the opportunity to volunteer and serve my community. I was excited to come back to work with fresh eyes and a new assignment. Because our project has received funding we were able to move forward more proactively in terms of getting other organizations and individuals involved in the project. The whole concept is really exciting to me because I have never been a part of something that could have an international impact. Despite not being at USIP for a large portion of the project, the very premise that I have been able to assist in any way is a very rare opportunity that I do not take for granted.
Based on the conversations I have had with various USIP members, serving others in the international space is something that has been a constant in their life. I often reflect on whether the employees at USIP remember the importance and magnitude of their work. With that being said, I want to highlight just how incredible their work truly is. These individuals dedicate a majority of their life (we do spend most of our life at work) to finding solutions for people across the world facing various difficulties. They think of the people that are often overlooked or forgotten and strive to give these people the opportunity to live better lives. It is incredible to see the passion behind their work and to witness just how much they care to spread peace and promote justice. I am inspired by their excitement and hope to bring their hunger to leave an impact with me wherever I go.
