Week 10

My final post, the one I’ve dreaded. I’ve concluded my report on Nepal and made my contributions to the DRC and Ukraine projects. Now it’s time for me to wrap up this blog with some final thoughts.

I’ve come to love the Lake Geneva region so much that leaving will feel a little like a dagger to the heart. Although many thoughts arise as I reflect on my time here, one sentiment stands out: gratitude.

My colleagues at GSF have been welcoming and helpful. I couldn’t have asked for a better group, from the folks in the office to my teammates working remotely all over the world. Thank you, GSF crew, for a fantastic summer.

Geneva was a spectacular backdrop to my adventures the last few months. I actually found the beauty of the region a bit jarring when I first arrived—the lake was too blue and clear, the mountain views too perfect. But instead of viewing Geneva as some wonderland I’m just visiting, I tried to make it my home, even if temporary. I found a groove here, one that I enjoyed. So in a strange way, I feel that I owe a thanks to this region itself, an acknowledgement of all the life-affirming moments it offered me this summer. Thank you to the people and nature and things of Geneva who cultivated my curiosity these last ten weeks.

I already anticipate returning to Geneva someday. But until then, I’ll carry my memories with me through the rest of law school and beyond.
