I interned with the Honorable Amy Berman Jackson of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. In that role, I assisted the judge's with drafting opinions, researching legal questions, and cite checking. I also got the opportunity to observe the judge's public hearings.
Why W&M Law?I decided to study law because I hope to ultimately pursue a career in public service and/or the government. Having worked in the government previously, I saw first hand that a grasp of the law was one of the most important skills for a policymaker to have. While my interests have changed slightly since starting law school--for example, I am more interested in litigation now than I was at the beginning--I still envision spending much of my career working in politics and policy and felt the law was the best avenue to explore in pursuit of my goals. I decided to attend William & Mary Law primarily because of the community. While I looked at many other excellent law schools, William & Mary was one of the only places where I felt like people actually enjoyed each other's company. Law school has a reputation for being cutthroat and lonely, but I have had the opposite experience at William & Mary. I have met some of my best friends while at law school, and am happy about my choice every day. I also do have to admit that I'm a history buff, so Colonial Williamsburg and the surrounding area was also a bit of a draw.
How would others describe me?
Thoughtful, loyal, optimistic, ebullient
