Message from the Dean

Our central mission as a law school is to train excellent lawyers who are equipped to make a difference in the world as citizen lawyers. To that end, we have recently redoubled our efforts to prepare "practice ready" law graduates. Click here to read more.

Legal Practice Program

Preparing Practice-Ready Graduates

Clinics: Up to 150 students a year can participate in any of our 9 clinics, including three that debuted this year: the Elder Law Clinic, the Appellate and Supreme Court Clinic, and the Virginia Coastal Policy Clinic. Click here for story.

Externships: Ninety-four 2Ls and 3Ls currently are gaining valuable experience and practical knowledge by working alongside lawyers and judges. Click here for story.

Legal Practice Program: Legal writing is at the heart of the new program. The new curriculum preserves the best aspects of our traditional skills program and introduces some innovations, such as the Legal Practice class for 2Ls.

Career Services for Alumni
The Office of Career Services is happy to assist alumni who are seeking employment or pursuing new career opportunities. OCS offers a wide range of resources and can provide counseling via telephone or in person. Learn more about career services for graduates of the Law School.

List a Job Opening, Schedule Employment Interviews
We encourage alumni to use the Employer Services page to schedule employment interviews on-campus, via Skype or videoconference, or at an off-campus interview program; request resume collection; or list positions to which students and/or graduates can apply individually.
