Annual Giving
Annual Fund gifts provide the lifeblood of the Law School. These are restricted or unrestricted gifts that address the most immediate needs and are spent in the following fiscal year. Unrestricted gifts are critical, as they assist all areas of the Law School. Restricted gifts are designated for a specific area or program, such as scholarship, the Public Service Fund, or BLSA.
The Law School accepts MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express. To make your gift by phone, please call (757) 221-3795 Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. You may also leave a message with your name and the number at which you can be reached and we will call at your convenience.
Gifts of Appreciated Securities
You can receive tax benefits in two ways by giving appreciated stocks. Most stock gifts can be made through a secure electronic transfer to the Law School's account. Please contact the Office of Advancement at 757-221-3795 to obtain the College's Account and DTC Numbers, as well as the name of our clearing broker.
Matching Gifts
Many law firms and companies encourage their employee's charitable giving by matching gifts to the Law School. These gifts can double, or sometimes triple, the impact of your giving! The recognition of donors is determined by the donor's total annual gift, his or her personal contribution, plus any resulting matching gift received during the fiscal year. To expedite the processing of matching gifts, please submit your request on your employer's intranet, or mail your signed matching gift form available from your corporation or law firm to the Law School. The Law School cannot provide these forms to donors.
