W&M Law Students to Host Election Day VOTEline
"This is an important year in American politics, and the goal of VOTEline is to ensure that everyone who is properly registered to vote can do so," said Brad Smith, a first-year law student and VOTEline Coordinator. Phones will be staffed from 8 A.M. to 7 P.M. on Tuesday, Nov. 6, to answer any questions that might arise as voters arrive at polling places to cast their votes.
VOTEline is an annual non-partisan service provided by the William & Mary Election Law Society to prevent confusion at local election precincts. The student group has operated VOTEline since November 2007. Any citizen may call the hotline who is seeking information regarding his or her rights at the polls. Please note that VOTEline assistance will only be available on Election Day.
Students are advised to bring a government issued form of identification to the polls on Election Day. Valid forms of identification include a voter identification card, a valid driver's license, and a W&M ID card for certain voters. Also, due to redistricting, your polling place and Assembly and Senate districts may have changed. All voters should receive updated Virginia Voter Information Cards prior to Election Day.
