Study in London: Drapers' Scholarship (Application Deadline: October 17, 2016)
Each year, the Law School selects one third-year student or alumnus(a) who has graduated within the last two years to serve as our Drapers Scholar. The Drapers Scholarship recipient receives a fellowship to study law and earn an LL.M. degree at Queen Mary University of London. This opportunity is made possible by the generosity of the Drapers Company of London, which for many years has had a special relationship with the College of William & Mary. At the Law School, the visible signs of this relationship are the stained glass figures of Blackstone and Wren at the north end of the lobby, which the Drapers Company obtained for us from Oxford University.
The student or alumnus(a) selected to serve as our Drapers Scholar will receive (1) a tuition waiver and (2) a grant to help with living expenses, set at an amount equal to the British maintenance award (approximately £10,000). The term of the appointment is one academic year. Classes begin early in October 2017 and end in March 2018. Assessments are by written essays due in January and/or April, or by examination during May and June. The examinations must be taken before returning home. Students who do not pass an assessment must retake it in the United Kingdom in July or August. The dissertation, which is due in August, is submitted electronically.
To apply, please send to Cassi Fritzius ([[w|cbfrit]]) current resume, transcript, and letter (no more than three pages single-spaced) describing the reasons for your interest in this scholarship and why you would benefit from the experience. Work or other experience post-graduation will be considered to be a plus. The application deadline is 5:00 p.m., Monday, October 17, 2016. A faculty committee will screen applications and recommend the recipient.
