Class of 2018 Enjoying Strong Employment Numbers
Seven months after they graduated, William & Mary Law School’s Class of 2018 is securing jobs in everything from Big Law to judicial clerkships to government and public service.
Securing jobs with preeminent global law firms has led to William & Mary’s consistent Top 30 ranking in the National Law Journal’s [NLJ] “Go to Law Schools” (based on percentage of graduates joining the 100 largest U.S.-based law firms as ranked by the NLJ). For our Class of 2018, approximately one quarter of the class began working with, or accepted offers from, law firms of 100 lawyers or more.
Our graduates are also doing well when it comes to post-graduate judicial clerkships. For our Class of 2017, William & Mary was ranked 14th among U.S. law schools for the percentage of our graduates who serve in federal judicial clerkships. For our Class of 2018, 23% of this Class (43 out of 187) is serving in judicial clerkships in courts across the country (more than 9% in federal clerkships).
Members of the Class of 2018 have also obtained positions with a variety of government agencies, public interest organizations, and not-for-profits.
Graduates in our Class of 2018 have taken full-time positions in 21 states, the District of Columbia, and one foreign country. The most popular employment locations for this Class are: Virginia, Washington, DC, and New York. In addition to these locations, graduates accepted positions in California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Vermont and Washington.
