Inaugural Cohort of Students Begin Online MLS at William & Mary Law School

William & Mary Law School has begun the 2024-25 academic year by marking a significant milestone as it welcomes the inaugural cohort of students to its new online Master of Legal Studies (M.L.S.) program.

Designed for professionals seeking to deepen their understanding of the U.S. legal system, the program is tailored to enhance performance in law-related job responsibilities, address industry legal challenges, and expand career opportunities.Hixon Wing-Spring 2024

The M.L.S. program offers a robust curriculum that begins with a core of general law courses, providing students with a solid foundation in legal principles. Following the completion of these foundational courses, students will have the opportunity to specialize in one of two concentrations: compliance & risk management or finance. These concentrations have been carefully selected to meet the growing demand for specialized knowledge in these critical areas.

In keeping with William & Mary's commitment to excellence in education, the program integrates best practices in adult and online learning, ensuring that students receive a high-quality educational experience that is both rigorous and relevant.

The M.L.S. program is delivered entirely online, allowing students to benefit from a flexible and engaging learning environment.

Students from diverse professional backgrounds will embark on a journey to gain legal expertise that sets them apart in their careers. William & Mary Law School looks forward to supporting these professionals as they pursue their goals and plans to expand the program with additional concentrations in the future.

“The launch of the M.L.S. program represents a new chapter in William & Mary Law School's legacy of innovation and leadership in legal education,” said Amy King, Associate Dean for Online and Executive Education. “We are proud to offer this opportunity to non-law professionals and look forward to the impact they will make in their respective fields.”
