Shaping Her Path: Jayda Peets '26

{{youtube:Large|2mk7Gx8-sZU, Jayda Peets}}Jayda Peets '26 didn’t come to William & Mary Law School with all the answers. But as a rising 3L, she’s gained something far more valuable: the confidence to ask bold questions, take on new challenges, and lead with purpose.

From her first semester, Jayda discovered that the community at William & Mary was different. The environment was challenging, but never isolating. Classmates became collaborators. Professors became mentors. And over time, the law school became a place where she could truly belong.

“I found people who genuinely wanted to see me succeed,” Jayda says. “It’s not just about the academics—it’s about the relationships you build here.”

That support gave Jayda the space to grow. She stepped into leadership roles, participated in hands-on legal work, and found her voice in and outside the classroom. With every clinic, case brief, and conversation, she’s been building not just legal skills—but clarity about the kind of lawyer she wants to become.

For Jayda, the citizen-lawyer model is more than a phrase—it’s a personal commitment. She’s taken on pro bono projects, contributed to student organizations, and stayed focused on how the law can be a tool for service and justice.

“Law school isn’t just about mastering theory,” she says. “It’s about asking yourself how you’re going to use that knowledge to help others.”

As she heads into her final year, Jayda is energized by what lies ahead—and grounded by the values that have guided her so far. She knows the road won’t always be easy, but she also knows she won’t walk it alone.

To students just starting their journey, Jayda offers this advice:

“Lean into the discomfort. Use your voice. And trust that you’re here for a reason—even on the days you doubt it.”

Jayda Peets is still becoming the lawyer she’s meant to be. But if the last two years are any indication, she’s well on her way—and she’s bringing her community with her.
