Timothy Zick Provides Expert First Amendment Analysis with Substack

Professor Timothy Zick, a leading voice in constitutional law, has been busy this summer unpacking the most pressing issues shaping the First Amendment today.

And he’s doing it through his new Substack, “Thoughts on the First.”

Launched in early July, the Substack offers sharp legal insight on everything from the Columbia University “settlement” to two recent district court decisions in significant First Amendment cases to analysis of AAUP v. Rubio, and much more.

Zick hopes that the Substack will become a go-to source for students, lawyers, journalists, and the general public for understanding how the First Amendment is evolving in real time.

Zick, the Robert & Elizabeth Scott Research Professor and John Marshall Professor of Government and Citizenship at William & Mary Law School, teaches, writes about, and comments on the First Amendment. He is the author of six (soon to be seven) books on freedom of expression.

In April, he launched an online resource, "Trump 2.0: Executive Power and the First Amendment" at First Amendment Watch (NYU).
