Deepa Ramsunder
Risk and Compliance executive
Deepa Ramsunder is a Governance, Risk and Compliance executive based in New Jersey,
United States. She serves as a Board Member on William and Mary Law School’s Online and
Executive Education (OEE) Advisory Board. Her areas of expertise include Anti-Money
Laundering, Customer Due Diligence, Sanctions, Anti-Bribery and Corruption, Conduct,
Regulatory Compliance, Fraud, Financial Crime and Operational Risks.
Deepa's banking career spans over 20 years across Chennai, Dubai and New York in global
banks, including ABN AMRO, The Royal Bank of Scotland and Standard Chartered Bank.
With significant international experience, she has held roles with group-wide
responsibilities. Currently, she is a Director at Standard Chartered Bank, where she leads and
oversees regional and global second line assurance reviews covering Conduct, Financial
Crime, Fraud, Compliance and Operational Risks.
Deepa is a member of the Exam Content Development Committee at the Association of
Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). She also co-chairs the Learning and Engagement chapter
of the Global Financial Crime Fighters Council within Standard Chartered Bank, where she
curates and organizes training sessions on various Financial Crime topics for colleagues across
the bank globally, with a view to spreading knowledge and awareness in the fight against
financial crime.
Deepa received her Bachelor’s degree in commerce majoring in Taxation Law and Practice
from the University of Kerala in India, and a Master’s degree in Anti-Money Laundering and
Counter Terrorist Financing from Charles Sturt University, Australia. She is a LUMA
Certified Human Centered Design Practitioner with expertise in implementing Agile
frameworks, a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified
Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), has a Certificate in Operational Risk
Management (CORM), the ICA International Diploma in AML, a Graduate Diploma in Anti
Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism Financing from the Australian Financial Markets
Association (AFMA). She is a Fellow Member of the International Compliance Association, a
member of the ACFE Advisory Council, volunteers as a mentor in the ACFE mentoring
program and is a trained coach and mentor to professionals in the banking and financial
services industry.
