Distinguished Lecture Series
Recognizing the significance of informed public debate on issues at the nexus of human rights and national security law, the Distinguished Lecture Series brings eminent members of academia, government and legal practice to share their relevant and timely experiences in the field with the William & Mary community.
In its inaugural year, the Series sponsored a variety of public lectures on issues such as the interplay between human rights and U.S. foreign policy, the applicability of the Geneva Convention to the War on Terror and the accountability of illegally armed groups involved in internal conflicts. In the 2011-2012 school year, lectures addressed issues involving terrorism in the Middle East, civil rights in Guantanamo Bay, and human rights abuses in North Africa.
