And the countdown begins....
I will be on a plane headed to Phnom Penh in one week. The flight is just a short trip from Charlotte to JFK to Germany, but only for fuel, to Singapore to Cambodia. I have studied abroad in China and Spain, and I cannot wait to build upon those memories!
This summer, I will be working with East-West Management Institute's USAID-funded Program on Rights and Justice (PRAJ). The primary focus of my internship will be Open Development Cambodia, an information hub website bringing together disparate data from a variety of reliable sources to monitor and track land use and development in Cambodia. My work will include researching statutory and regulatory provisions associated with development activity and helping analyze compliance patterns; identifying the practical impacts of non-compliance on communities; and assisting grassroots orgaizations in understanding the formal legal constraints on development activity so that they can better state objections to concessions affecting them.
I look forward to this extraordinary opportunity, and I hope that you will enjoy sharing these experiences with me!
