Grants, Funding, and Triathlon

This week, I was able to follow up on the conferences in Brussels and Geneva by e-mailing everyone Karen (the CEO) met at each conference and setting up follow up meetings with a few of the other attendees. One of the attendees works for IPS news agency, and I drafted an editorial piece for Karen to send to him for publishing. I also wrote a grant proposal for the National Endowment Agency for our country program in Rwanda. Part of the challenge of working for a non-profit organization is that the focus is always on sustaining core funding, along with the actual operations of the organization.

On Friday night, we went out to enjoy some of the music as part of the Geneva Music Festival. Also over the weekend, I …attempted… to run a Sprint Triathlon with my friend Sonia in Préverenges, which is near her hometown Morges. I, unfortunately, say “attempted” because my language barrier came strongly into play when I couldn’t get directions to do the second loop of the bike course. The swim portion was incredibly cold, and the waves were surprisingly strong. We were all very happy to warm up after the race was over.
