week 7

What a week! I had a long weekend off of work and I decided to make the most of it.

It was a short week at work but I was able to make great progress on my report dealing with the legal framework surrounding voters' list accuracy. Next week I will spend some time looking further into a recent law that created municipal election commissions. I am curious to see exactly what powers and responsibilities have been delegated to these commissions and if there is any way they could be used to improve the accuracy of the lists. Its a long shot, since the lists are derived from the Central Civil Registry, which is maintained by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. I am curious to see if there is some way the municipal commissions could provide information to the MIA to improve the data accuracy.

After the short work week I woke up early on Thursday morning and boarded a flight to Geneva, Switzerland I spent the morning exploring Geneva. It was very scenic and the city is built on the edge of a lake. Sometime in the early afternoon I met up with a friend and we boarded a bus to Lyon, France.

Lyon was a very nice place. There were some tourists, but nothing in comparison to Rome or Paris. Probably more people in town then usual, since the Women's World Cup finals were taking place in Lyon that weekend. It was a very nice city to explore. The museum at the confluence was probably one of the best museums I have ever been to. The food was also very good in Lyon. I tried a lot of things I normally would not try, like beef tartare for example. Lyon was truly amazing and I would recommend a visit to anyone who is planning to visit France.

After Lyon we went to Paris. Paris was very cool. There were many tourists like me. I can see why. The city is incredible and has many things to see. I particularly liked The Lourve. Shoutout to the guy who let me in for free, that was super nice.

So that was my week and long weekend. Next weekend should be cool. I am going to a music festival with a coworker. Expect a post about it next week! Until then, Ciao!
