week 9
Hello again. It has been another week of work and seeing the world.
Early in the week, I spent finishing my report on legal authorities and put in a lot of work on another project I am working on which is a comparative legal analysis. I will be able to finish that and do it well before I am done for the summer.
This weekend my boss gave me a couple of days off so that I could travel to this place called Malta. Maybe you know where Malta is, but I certainly did not until recently. Malta is a very small island south of Sicily. It was once a British colony but became independent in 1964. Now the small island nation is an EU member and is part of the Schengen Area.
Getting to Malta was no easy task. I left very early Thursday morning on a bus to Skopje, then took another bus to Sofia, Bulgaria. Crossing into Bulgaria was interesting, certainly the most serious form of passport control I have ever been through in the Balkans. I guess this makes sense because Bulgaria is in the EU, but it is not in the Schengen Area. My flight from Sofia to Malta was supposed to be in the afternoon, but it was delayed until 11 p.m. I used this opportunity to explore Sofia, it was a nice city.
I finally arrived in Malta and spent the next three days there. Here are some photos:
See that island on the right in the last photo? I swam across and climbed to the top. It was awesome!
I cannot say much about Malta other than whoever you are reading this, you must go! It is wonderful and lovely. Anyways, that's all for this week. I will update about my last week and my trip to Sarandë with my mate, Noah. Should be fun! Anyways, Ciao!
