Patrick Grene

Patrick Grene was born in Belfast, and raised initially between Ireland and Italy, but has since lived largely in New York. He studied History as an undergraduate at the University of Chicago, where he focused his research around the application of medieval Icelandic law and legal customs. He has subsequently spent time working in public relations consulting in New York, teaching English in South Korea, and managing political campaigns in London, along with periodic stints in journalism. He is currently pursuing a J.D. at William & Mary Law School, with a particular interest in international and constitutional law.

Patrick will be working with the Constitutional Court of Indonesia, Indonesian Human Rights Commission, Electoral Commission, Election Supervisory Committee and Center for Constitutional Studies (PUSaKO) to examine the results of the 2019 general elections, investigating in the electoral process and determining the implications for the ongoing processes of democratization in Indonesia. This will encompass both fieldwork with the research team in Padang, West Sumatra, and consulting with the Constitutional Court in Jakarta. He will be collaborating with PUSaKO researchers in the construction of articles publicising the results of his research.
