Until We Meet Again

National Museum

I was able to visit the National Museum of Cambodia a few weeks back. The museum is located right next to the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh. It is the country's premier historical and archaeological museum, housing one of the world's largest collections of Khmer art. The museum's architecture, inspired by traditional Khmer temple design, complements its rich collection. The museum provides a serene environment to explore Cambodia's cultural heritage. The extensive collection features stone, bronze, and wood sculptures from prehistoric times through the post-Angkorian periods. Hindu and Buddhist sculptures are prominently featured throughout the museum halls.

A Final Thank You

Thank you to the entire team at Open Development Cambodia for creating such a warm and welcoming environment over the past ten weeks. It was truly a privilege to work alongside such an energetic and dedicated group. The kindness and support from everyone made my time in Cambodia seamless. I especially enjoyed the team lunches, whether they were in large gatherings or in small groups. A special thanks to Mr. Try Thy for allowing me to attend various conferences and visit the Prayuters Library. As I bid farewell, I feel as though I should incorporate one final Anthony Bourdain quote into this blog series. He previously stated on his TV show Parts Unknown that "everyone should see how complicated, how deeply troubled, and yet at the same time, beautiful and awesome the world can be." ODC’s work embodies this belief, skillfully navigating the complexities of the operating environment while celebrating the development and growth of individual Cambodians. Thank you once again for an unforgettable ten weeks. I look forward to following the organization’s continued successes and hope to cross paths with everyone again in the future.
