Prospective Field Supervisors/Organizations
We appreciate your interest in William & Mary Law’s Externship Program!
Our Externship Office partners with a wide variety of organizations so that students may gain experience in diverse legal fields. We do not directly “place” students in externship positions, but we advertise externship opportunities and support students in applying for these placements. Participating organizations may choose their own externs.
Because externships are educational opportunities, placements must meet certain criteria. The Externship Field Supervisor Handbook covers the externship program’s educational objectives, summarizes academic requirements, and outlines field supervisors’ responsibilities. William & Mary Law’s Externship Program is governed by both the American Bar Association’s Standards and Executive Committee Regulations of the Association of American Law Schools.
If you’d like to discuss the possibility of participating in our externship program, please contact Professor Erin Hendrickson, Director of Externships and/or Ms. Katherine Bailey, Program Administrator for Externships and Public Service.
