Indicate your intent to enroll in the Online LL.M. Program
Log into (sign IN) the Online LL.M. application portal and select intent to enroll. This allows our law school to activate your William & Mary student record prompting the remaining steps listed below. If you have not completed this step, the remaining steps cannot be addressed.
Activate your access to William & Mary systems:
Your first step is to activate your William & Mary username. For this, you will need your William & Mary student identification number, which is the nine-digit number beginning with 93 printed in your admission offer letter. You will also need the application email address you used in your application.
Complete the activation form and submit. William & Mary will confirm your William & Mary username.
Online LL.M. Orientation
Following activation of your William & Mary username, you will be provided access to William & Mary systems, which will allow you to access and complete the Online LL.M. orientation session. Orientation will open in Blackboard (https://blackboard.wm.edu) on August 5 and must be completed no later than August 31. All mandatory orientation components are 100% asynchronous. You should plan on setting aside six hours in total to complete the orientation modules.
Official Transcripts
When you applied to William & Mary Law School, you uploaded unofficial transcripts and confirmation of your degree earned (called a conferral) into the LL.M. application portal. So that you can register for law classes, you must purchase a NACES approved transcript evaluation and authentication to be received by William & Mary Law School no later than the day before your online law courses begin. If the NACES evaluation is not received by this deadline, the admission offer is withdrawn or the student has the option to defer to a new term start but we must hear from the student prior to the first day of law classes in the term into which the student was admitted.
If when you applied, you utilized a NACES-approved transcript evaluation and authentication company, and you released your official NACES-member approved transcript evaluation and authentication to William & Mary Law School, then William & Mary Law School will accept the 'official' transcript directly from the NACES agency, as long as you had graduated from your institution at the time of the official transcript report. William & Mary Law School may also be able to receive official transcripts directly from the NACES member if it uses a secure online portal. Please contact us as soon as possible with any questions about this requirement.
William & Mary Law School will not accept student copies, facsimile copies, photocopies, or NACES-approved unofficial transcript/conferral copies, or opened (unsealed) transcripts shipped.
For student's whose NACES evaluation was conducted prior to the student's graduation, in this instance only will we accept official, final transcripts and conferrals that are stamped and sealed by the student's institution, and placed in a sealed envelope. The institution's official stamp must be affixed to the seam of the envelope. The documents can be shipped to William & Mary Law.
Ship to: William & Mary Law School, 613 South Henry Street, Attention: International Programs Office, Williamsburg, Virginia 23185. If you ship via an express carrier to track your shipment, please include our telephone number: (757) 221-3800 on the shipper's documentation.
LL.M. students who are unable to supply official, stamped and sealed transcripts prior to the first day of the Online LL.M. class start date are at risk of immediate dismissal from the Online LL.M. Program.
Technology for Newly Admitted Students
Please refer to the William & Mary Information Technology department's website for newly admitted students and instructions for setting up access, William & Mary email, etc. If you require technical assistance, please contact the William & Mary I.T. department. Indicate that you are an incoming online law program student who needs assistance. The I.T. department may ask you verification questions (what is your birthdate, or what address did you list in your application) to ensure that you are who you say you are (security measure).
Exam-Specific Technology Requirements
The Windows 10 single language operating system is not compatible with the exam software platform that may be used in your courses. Students should familiarize themselves with other exam-specific technology requirements.
